Sale Sharks went back to basics to secure a thrilling bonus-point win over Harlequins that saw them throw Pool 5 of the Heineken Cup wide open.
The Sharks scored four tries in an impressive 29-19 victory at The Stoop that gives them a great chance of making the quarter-finals.
Having suffered from a lack of cutting edge on occasions so far this season, Sale showed just how dangerous they can be when the final pass goes to hand.
Dwayne Peel, Nick Macleod, Dave Seymour and Ben Cohen all crossed for the visitors as Sale moved level on points with Cardiff Blues and just a point behind pool leaders Toulouse with three games left to play.
And head coach Kingsley Jones explained that an emphasis on basic skills-training played an important part in his side's triumph
"We've gone back to basics with this group of players," said Jones.
"Jason Robinson and Byron Hayward having been working hard since August to take us forward and make us more clinical. Nobody's more frustrated than me when we make schoolboy errors, but it does take time.
"It's easy to say 'he should be doing that' or 'I told him to do this' but players need practice and repetition. It takes a little bit of time to get players playing together.
"These boys have to do the basics day-in-day-out. We're practicing high balls non-stop, practicing the basic skills and today I thought it showed."
Sale's willingness to counter attack from deep saw them score two tries inside the opening 10 minutes before a third arrived with still only a quarter of the match played. And with a fourth almost arriving eight minutes before the break, Jones was delighted with the nature of his side's first-half performance.
"We could have given the game away in the end I guess but I certainly think the first 30 or 40 minutes was pretty impressive," added Jones.
"We could have killed the game with a fourth try but Mike Brown just got his hand inbetween the pass. That would have been a pretty sweet 40 minutes.
"I'm in a happy mood but I'm realistic that we have to keep improving next week. Our scrum's been great but we struggled today and our lineout's something we need to keep working on.
"We'll have a nice evening, enjoy the ride on the bus home but we'll respect Quins next week. They'll come out hurting and they'll work really hard next week.
"We need to be on the money but then we do have a real chance of qualifying from this group."
