Bourgoin head coach Eric Catinot told l'Equipe on Wednesday that the European Challenge Cup semi-final is now their main target along with the Heineken Cup spot that comes with winning the tournament.
Bourgoin are the sole French team flying the flag in Europe following their dramatic 30-32 away win over London Irish in the European Challenge Cup quarter-finals.
Sitting twelfth in the Top 14 ahead of Dax and Mont de Marsan, the 1997 European Challenge Cup champions suffered a huge 61-10 defeat in Bayonne last weekend.
But Bourgoin's coach Eric Catinot believes that just two points from their next three games against Toulouse, Castre and Brive will be enough for them to stay up. And therefore plans not to bring several of his key players to Toulouse this weekend in order to prepare for the visit of Worcester.
"We will not play to avoid relegation in Toulouse. We know that although they will not play with their best side we will still not bring back any points from there. Today, we focus on the European Challenge Cup semi-final against Worcester. The club, the supporters, everybody is looking forward to the game. That's why twelve or thirteen of our usual starting line-up will not taking the field on Saturday." explained the coach.
