Stade Francais head coach Ewan McKenzie has named props Sylvain Marconnet and Rodrigo Roncero as joint club captains for the Parisian club.
The France and Argentina internationals will replace Sergio Parisse and Pierre Rabadan as captains and speaking to Stade.fr the Australian Head Coach explained his reasons for his selection:
"I want to involve all possible players and have more talismanic guys within the squad to give them a sense of responsibility. Rodrigo and Sylvain are both experienced players in club and international level. It's not criticism of Sergio and Pierre and I'm sure we will have other captains during the season due to international games." said the Australian coach.
Both players have plenty of European pedigree with Marconnet among the ERC Elite 50 club with 59 Heineken Cup games under his belt, while Roncero has played 24 times in Europe's premier tournament including the 2005 Heineken Cup final in Edinburgh.
Stade Français Paris will start their Heineken Cup season at home to Edinburgh on Saturday, 10 October at 2.35 pm.
