Steve Willock, Burnage Club President, said: "It is fabulous to be a part of the Heineken 10's, as a national competition we are proud to be chosen to host the event in the Manchester area. We would definitely be keen to do it again next year. Everybody has enjoyed themselves, and we have been blessed with the weather and some fantastic rugby. I think that at the end of the day the best team did win."
Jack Morehouse, Sale captain, said: "It was a great tournament and on behalf of the lads it was great to come here and win at Burnage, I would just like to thank the lads for playing an exceptional game."
By winning the third Heineken 10's festival, Longford RFC automatically go into the hat to become eligible for the Heineken legacy donation, which will be awarded to one of the victorious clubs at the completion of all of the Heineken 10's festivals in 2009.
Following a successful inaugural year of the first ever national 10's rugby competition in 2008, the Heineken 10's returns bigger and better in 2009. With 15 tournaments hosted at rugby clubs nationwide between May and September, this is the first ever social rugby tens tournament of its kind. It promises to attract even more amateur rugby players - with over 2500 taking part in 2009.
