Crane sets sights on silverware in Scotland

Crane landed the winner in the eighth round of kicks as this sensational semi-final became the first in the competition to go all the way to a penalty shoot out.

And the Tigers No8, who was a goalkeeper in his days with his school football team, made the most of the moment.

Crane said: "I never thought it was going to carry on all the way to my go, but once it did I just tried not to worry about the moment.

"The pressure was off me because Martyn Williams had missed his, so I just stepped up and gave it a shot.

"I always do a bit of kicking practice after training sessions with Julien Dupuy and it looks as if it paid off.

"I knew no-one would hold it against me if I missed, but it was an unbelievable feeling to get the winner."

Leicester led for all but 12 minutes of the game but were stretched all the way by Cardiff Blues who roared back late on to take the Tigers to extra time and penalties.

Crane said: "We stepped off the gas a bit to let them in twice late on after defending so well with just 13 men, but I thought we deserved the win. It's a great feeling to be going to Edinburgh for the final."
