The subplot to Friday evening's European Challenge Cup final, will see the winner deciding the European aspirations of two former Heineken Cup winners London Wasps and Brive for next season
Northampton Saints meet Bourgoin in the European Challenge Cup final at the Stoop on Saturday evening (KO 19.45) and aside from the important silverware on-the-line also offers a Heineken Cup spot to the winner.
If Northampton Saints win at the Stoop they will take the seventh and final spot available to England for Next season's Heineken Cup at the expense of two-time winners Wasps who finished higher than Saints in the Premiership..
The same applies in France where a Bourgoin win would see the inaugural European Challenge Cup winners take the final Heineken Cup spot in France leaving the 1997 Heineken Cup winners Brive to ply their trade in the European Challenge Cup despite finishing above Bourgoin in the league. So there could some unusual alliances of Anglo and French fans in the Stoop on Friday evening.
A limited number tickets for the Final have been returned by Northampton and Bourgoin and will go on sale through the Harlequins ticket office tomorrow, Wednesday, 20 May.
