Edinburgh's new Head Coach Rob Moffat is upbeat about Edinburgh Pool 4 campaign and is targeting a win in Paris to get the campaign off to a good start.
"It's important you get off to a good start in Europe, which we didn't manage last year said former backs coach at Edinburgh.
The Edinburgh squad will have a chance to catch up with former-team-mates Simon Taylor and Hugo Southwell as they open their Heineken Cup Pool 4 campaign away to Stade Francais Paris in October.
After the trip to France, Edinburgh will welcome Magners League rivals Ulster to Murrayfield. Rounds three and four will see back-to-back matches against 1998 Heineken Cup winners, Bath.
Moffat, who formerly served coached at Glasgow and at the now defunct Borders believes Edinburgh can target the Stade Français match.
"What we did achieve last season was an away win in France, so we have to target a repeat when we play Stade Francais in October and that would set us up nicely for our opening home game against Ulster"
Moffat believes Edinburgh can reach the knock-out stages of the Heineken Cup at the same time as mounting a challenge for the Magners League. "That has to be our objective," he asserts. "Of course a lot has to go in our favour for that to be achieved but we must aim to improve our performances."
