Following the recent withdrawal of Rugby Calvisano from the Italian Super 10 Championship, the Board of ERC has approved the Italian Rugby Federation's proposal that Roma will be their direct replacement in Pool 4 of the 2009/10 European Challenge Cup.
Roma, who have featured in European action on six previous seasons - in the 2000/2001 Heineken Cup and five seasons in the European Challenge Cup, most recently in 2003/04 - finished seventh in the 2008/09 Super 10 championship and were therefore next in line for the fourth Italian spot in the European Challenge Cup.
Roma will host their Pool 4 European Challenge Cup games against London Wasps, Bayonne, and Metro-Racing 92 at the Stadio Tre Fontane in the Italian capital.
The fixtures for the 2009/10 European Challenge Cup are expected to be announced on Wednesday, 29 July.
