Brent Cockbain, Ospreys, received a 20 day suspension following a independent disciplinary hearing.
Brent Cockbain, the Ospreys forward cited following the Pool 3 Heineken Cup Round 1 match against Sale Sharks at the Liberty Stadium on Friday, 20 October, 2006, appeared before an independent Disciplinary Committee in Dublin today (Tuesday, 31 October, 2006).
The citing lodged by the Citing Commissioner for the match, Douglas Hunter (Scotland), was for stamping - contravention of Law 10.4 (b).
The independent Disciplinary Committee, chaired by Hugh Logan (Ireland) and also comprising Mark McParland and Phil Orr (both Ireland) found that, as a result of Mr Cockbain pleading guilty to an act of foul play and having taken into consideration strong mitigating factors, the committee imposed a sanction of suspension from today, Tuesday, 31 October up to and including Sunday, 19 November (20 days).
Both parties were advised of the right to appeal.
Law 10.4 (b): Stamping or trampling: A player must not stamp or trample on an opponent.
