Newcastle Falcons fly half Jonny Wilkinson has started down the comeback trail, having resumed light training after his kidney injury...
Wilkinson suffered the problem in Newcastle's victory over Bristol on November 3, but forwards coach Peter Walton said this week: "Jonny is on the mend.
"He's had his four or five weeks of rest, took himself away for a holiday and now he's in the gym doing some light training."
Refusing to speculate on a potential comeback date, Walton said: "He will be back. We haven't put a date on it and we aren't going to do that, but realistically it may be some time during the Six Nations.
"We'll get him back in the same sort of shape he was for the Bristol game, and he'll be flying again."
Hailing the resolve of the fly half, he added: "Jonny is very positive as always. He's in a great frame of mind and also fantastic condition.
"He's feeling refreshed after a couple of weeks in the sun, and he's looking forward to starting up again."
