The back row forward who represented New Zealand 39 times admits that it was an easy decision to stay at Saracens for a further 12 months, He said: "London is very much my home and I'm enjoying my rugby with Saracens, so it was a very easy decision. Now I'm just looking forward to getting back into action and playing that first game."
Saracens, who return to the Heineken Cup following a three year gap, will face this season's semi-finalists Biarritz Olympique Pays Basque, Benetton Treviso and 1999 champions Ulster in Pool 4.
The Saracens squad return to pre-season training on Monday and Taine is looking forward to building on the successes of last season and believes the team can only get better.
He said: "From Christmas onwards last season, few could argue that we had a very successful league run with only two defeats in 11 games. We were in a pretty bad way before Christmas and our hopes of qualifying for the Heineken Cup looked a long way off.
"But we adapted a different style after Christmas and it paid dividends. Obviously, all the players really enjoyed the second half of the season so there is a lot of excitement around and we're all looking forward to the new campaign.
"We played with a lot of fortitude last year and we showed some real grit. That's what successful teams are build on and that's what we have to continue this season. Our game was based around a strong defence, but we're going to have to step that up this season and I'm sure we'll have more of emphasis on our game play and attacking over the coming months.
"We won a lot of games by the odd point last season so our next step is to look to increase those winning margins. Keeping a stable squad and coaching staff will really help us and with only a few new additions to the squad, we'll all know each other and be able to hit the ground running."
