Mr Furet was cited for alleged illegal/foul play in the European Challenge Cup
quarter-final first leg match between Section Paloise (Pau) and ASM
Clermont Auvergne on Saturday 8 January.
At today's hearing, video and photographic and documentary evidence were
considered and Mr Furet gave evidence in person. The independent
Disciplinary Committee found that Mr Furet did commit an act of illegal or
foul play, namely a stamp on the face of ASM flanker Michel Dieude. This
contravened Law 10-4(c) of the Laws of the Game.
However, the independent Disciplinary Committee also decided the offence
would not have warranted Mr Furet being shown a red card if it had been
detected by the referee. As a result, the citing complaint was not upheld
and no suspension or other sanction was imposed on the player.
The player's application for costs was rejected by the Committee and no
award was made as to costs of either party.
The independent Disciplinary Committee was made up of Brian McLoughlin,
Chairman (IRFU), Robert Horner (RFU) and Philip Orr (IRFU).
