With the two matches in each Pool scheduled by ERC to kick-off simultaneously, Leicester Tigers, who lead the Pool 3 with 15 points after Round 4, travel to ASM Clermont Auvergne while Stade Français Paris, currently second with 14 points, will have home advantage over the Ospreys on the Friday night.
And the tension is set to go right through an action-packed weekend with Cardiff Blues, who top Pool 2 a point ahead of Perpignan, travelling to Leeds Tykes for a Sunday lunchtime showdown while Perpignan host Rugby Calvisano at the same time.
While those two Pools are the tightest at the top, Biarritz Olympique and Saracens, one and two in Pool 4, go head-to-head on the Saturday afternoon while it is more of the same in Pool 1 where Sale Sharks travel to Munster and in Pool 5 where Bath Rugby are home to Leinster.
A minimum of seven of the matches will be televised live with the initial TV schedule confirmed today. Additional live and delayed broadcasts will be announced by ERC's broadcast partners in the New Year.
The six Pool winners automatically qualify for the quarter-finals with the four teams with the best finishing records earning home advantage and ranked 1 to 4. The two best placed runners-up qualify as the No 7 and 8 ranked teams and will, along with the teams ranked 5 and 6, play away from home in the last eight.
The quarter-finals will be played on the weekend of 31 March / 1 / 2 April, 2006.
