Munster booked their place in the Heineken Cup quarter-finals with a 18-10 Pool 4 victory over NEC Harlequins at Twickenham today (Saturday) - and they did it in front of a tournament record crowd for a Pool match of 33,883.
Munster have now qualified for the knock-out stages for the seventh successive season and they had plenty of support at Twickenham as the old Pool record of 23,463, set when Leinster clashed with Cardiff Blues last season, was smashed by over 10,000.
Biarritz Olympique qualified as Pool 1 winners after making home advantage count against defending champions London Wasps with a 18-15 victory while Leinster claimed the No 1 ranking spot with the tournament's only 100 per cent Pool record after beating Benetton Treviso 57-17 at Lansdowne Road.
Toulouse qualified on Friday night after topping Pool 3 with 24 points and a guaranteed home quarter-final.
The winners from Pool 5 and Pool 6 will be decided tomorrow (Sunday). Who will join Northampton Saints as the best runners-up from all six groups will also be determined.
