Connacht Rugby have completed the signing of the Natal Sharks front rower Frik Venter ahead of the new season.
The 23 year olds' preferred position is loosehead, but he can also play both sides in the front row as well as hooker. Venter joins Connacht following the move by Peter Bracken to English champions London Wasps.
Venter played his first ever Currie Cup match last month, helping the Natal Sharks to a 37-23 defeat of the Boland Cavaliers at the ABSA Stadium.
Connacht, who reached the semi-finals of last season's European Challenge Cup, will be looking to go at least one step further in the coming season, when they face Worcester, Montpellier and Sicilian side Catania in Pool 5 of the new look European Challenge Cup.
Their opening European Challenge Cup match will be at home to Catania on the weekend of 21/22/23 October.
