Viadana have clinched third place in the Italian Super 10 championship and will play Cardiff Blues at Stadio Aldo Invernici in Brescia on Sunday (18.00) for the 24th place in the 2005 / 2006 Heineken Cup tournament.
Benetton Treviso and Rugby Calvisano have won through to the championship final in Padova on Saturday (20.00) and have clinched the two guaranteed Italian places in the Heineken Cup. The rankings will be determined by the result of the final.
Amatori Catania were beaten in the two leg semi-finals by Benetton Treviso while Calvisano emerged triumphant over Viadana after their two matches, Viadana qualifying for the play-off against Cardiff Blues courtesy of finishing above Amatori Catania in the regular Super 10 season.
In France six of their seven places have been filled - 2005 champions Toulouse, beaten finalists Stade Francais Paris, Biarritz Olympique, Bourgoin, Perpignan and Castres Olympique all qualifying with one round of the Top 16 to go, though the rankings have still to be determined.
The additional and seventh French place is a straight fight between Clermont Auvergne and Agen, who clash at Stade Marcel-Michelin on Saturday (15.15).
Agen go into the winner-takes-all contest on 77 points and Clermont Auvergne on 72. The home side need to win with a try bonus point and deny Agen a losing bonus point as Clermont Auvergne won the match at Stade Armandie 22-19.
