Fans of the Heineken Cup, which kicks-off this weekend, can try their hand at top level rugby management in the fantasy rugby version of Europe's premier club rugby tournament. The second edition of the Official Heineken Cup Fantasy Rugby game replicates the structure of the Heineken Cup tournament - giving fans the chance to pick their best team from the star-studded squads of Europe's 24 leading club rugby teams.
Managers are restricted to a specific budget with players having a set value at the start of the tournament. Unlike their real management counterparts, fantasy managers can transfer players prior to each Heineken Cup round according to form. Players earn points for their managers through their match and team real time performances.
Fantasy players can pit their dream teams against friends in a mini league and compete for the title of "champion of Europe" in the European league.
There are prizes after every round with the overall winner earning a VIP weekend for two to the 11th Heineken Cup final, at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff on Saturday, 20 May. The prize will include great seats, match day hospitality, signed team merchandise and spending money.
Fans in Ireland have been challenged to pit their skills against the Irish Examiners' team of rugby experts - Donal Lenihan, Charlie Mulqueen and Barry Coughlan. The Irish Examiner is the Irish Media Partner to the Official Heineken Cup Fantasy Rugby game and will carry updates and the Irish League Table on the Tuesday's after each Heineken Cup round.
