RC Toulon have confirmed an agreement with Australian Rugby League side The Bulldogs, which will see Sonny Bill Williams play for the Top 14 new comers.
"A financial agreement will be signed. Sonny will pay the majority of the amount asked by Canterbury himself and RC Toulon will help him by paying a small part," Toulon president Mourad Boudjellal told the French media.
The accomplished New Zealand rugby league international recently opted out of his contact with the Bulldogs to switch codes and join Tana Umaga's ambitious Top 14 side who secured promtion last season.
The Bulldogs initially began legal proceedings to prevent the move but the recent agreement would appear to have confirmed Williams as Toulon's latest recruit.
The 23-year-old in now expected to make his much anticipated Top 14 debut against Clermont on August 26 and could feature in Europe in the competitive Pool 2 in European Challenge Cup where Toulon have been drawn with Northampton Saints, Bristol and Montpellier.
