Montauban secured a valuable loosing bonus point away to Montpellier keeping them in pole position for the seventh French Heineken Cup spot.
Montpellier defeated Montauban by 12 points to 8 in a close fought encounter with the two sides now separated by just two points in seventh and eighth position going into the final round of Top 14 league games.
On Saturday Montauban will welcome Albi, where a win will be enough to put them through to the Heineken Cup for the first time in the club's history, while Montpellier travel in hope to Auch where they must win and pray that Albi can do them a favour.
Montauban coach's Laurent Travers believes his players deserve to qualify for the Heineken Cup saying, "They have worked so hard! It would be a huge reward for the club and the team."
Castres Olympique confirmed the sixth French spot in next season's Heineken Cup with a victory over Albi 20-16 while Perpignan, who have already qualified for Europe, made it through to the Top 14 semi-finals when they overcame Dax 21 points to 10.
The seven French clubs who qualify for the Heineken Cup will find out who they will face in the Pool stages on Tuesday, 17 June when the Pool draw takes place in Dublin.
