Biarritz assistant coach John Isaacs believes his side let Cardiff Blues off the hook after slipping to a 21-17 defeat at the Arms Park.
The French outfit out-scored the Blues two tries to nil as Damien Traille and Julien Peyrelongue crossed in either half, before they were sunk by the boot of Ben Blair and Nick Robinson late on.
The four-point defeat still secured a losing bonus point but Isaacs knows it was a missed chance for his team.
He said: "We're very happy with the bonus point as this group will go down to the wire but we're disappointed not to have won the game as I thought we were the better team.
"We let a try go begging and I thought we had a legitimate drop goal ruled out. But we also made a lot of errors and let them get away with it. That cost us dearly.
"We had worked hard on our defence and that enabled us to dominate the first half. Perhaps they took us lightly at the start, but perhaps they had every right to given our recent record.
"Now we have to win next week but missing a bonus point against Gloucester could come back to hurt us."
