Leinster have announced that scrum-half Guy Easterby has signed a short-term contract with the irish province until the end of the Pool stages of the 2007/2008 Heineken Cup.
Easterby, 36, retired from professional rugby at the end of the 2006/2007 season but he has featured in all 12 league fixtures for English club Otley this season, who lie in second place in the English National League Division 2.
The former Llanelli Scarlets and Rotherham star made 28 appearances in Heineken Cup and has also 28 caps for Ireland and has scored 6 tries for his country.
Leinster coach Michael Cheika commented: "We are delighted that Guy has agreed to sign a short-term contract with Leinster. Guy has huge experience in the game and was a popular member of the squad up until his retirement and I have no doubt he will give us the depth in the scrum-half position that we need at this important part of our year. He is a proven leader and it is also an added boost that he is familiar with the set-up."
Leinster third in Pool 6 play a crucial away game in Edinburgh next Saturday 15th. The Irish team will be aiming for a bonus point victory to keep their chances of qualifying for the quarter finals alive.
