Brive captain Jérôme Bonvoisin believes domestic pride will be the deciding factor when they tackle Pau at Stade Municipal du Hameau on Sunday in the First Leg of the all-French semi-final.
“This is going to be a hard game,” he said. “Pau and Brive know each other extremely well and we have each taken the scalp of the other with one victory apiece this season.
“Both teams are capable of winning and it will be a close-run thing.
“The strongest part of Pau’s game is their forward play. They have very strong set-pieces and rarely make errors. We will need to match their performance and shut out their attacks. Our plan of attack is to concentrate on our collective performance as our strength lies in our teamwork.
“I feel confident that it’s better to play the away leg of this semi-final first, particularly as we are confident in our away form. The game will be very hard but, by keeping our concentration and staying motivated until the end, it could go our way. We certainly won’t be giving anything up before the final whistle!”
