Scotland scrum-half Chris Cusiter has pledged his future to The Borders pro-team by signing a three year contract to stay with the club.
The twenty-two-year-old, who was named as RBS Man of the Match in the opening game of Scotland's 2005 Six Nations campaign in Paris, said: "I'm very happy in my game just now both with Scotland and at club level so remaining with The Borders offers me continuity in my rugby and I am delighted to be able to stay with the club."

Steve Bates, head coach of The Borders, said: "Chris is integral to the development of our team. His three year commitment to The Borders goes hand in hand with the recent announcement from the SRU that they will continue to fund the three professional teams. Chris staying with us means that rugby here at The Borders will continue to attract quality players and supporters alike."

Ian McGeechan, Director of Rugby, said: "We are delighted that Chris has chosen to stay with The Borders. He is a product of our development system - he's been one of the Scottish Institute of Sport players - and is an excellent example of how our professional support has nurtured his talent and has highlighted what a good player he has become. For such a young man, he is one of the core players in our professional game and it's great that he's committed to The Borders for another three years."

Scotland coach Matt Williams added: "This is a huge boost for Scottish rugby. Chris lifts the standard of all the players around him so to have a young player of his calibre commit his future to stay and play his rugby in Scotland is a great vote of confidence for The Borders professional team and the sport in this country. "

Keith Grainger, Commercial and Marketing Director, said: "Chris is one of the best players not only in the Scotland set-up but in the whole of the UK just now. His commitment to the professional game in Scotland mirrors Scottish Rugby's dedication to that level of the sport as we know that the professional teams are central to the development of Scotland's international teams. Chris is already a mainstay of the Scotland team and is an inspiration to youngsters taking up the game."
