Falcons Anticipate Great Occasion

Newcastle Falcons are anticipating a great occasion when they play their Heineken Cup quarter-final against Stade Francais on Saturday April 2 at the Parc des Princes.
The 44,000-seater stadium has been chosen instead of Stade Francais’ regular home ground, Stade Jean Bouin, due to the large expected demand for tickets.

Falcons director of rugby, Rob Andrew, said: “We are thrilled that a game of this magnitude will be played at one of the world’s great rugby stadiums.

“Having played there for England many times there are few venues to compare with it, and with the Geordies travelling over to the match in great numbers it will contribute to what promises to be a fantastic atmosphere and a great occasion.”

Parc des Princes is only a matter of yards away from Stade Jean Bouin, and has played host to big Heineken Cup occasions in the past, when Leicester Tigers dramatically beat Stade Francais there in the 2001 Heineken Cup final.

The stadium was the home of the French national rugby and soccer teams up until the construction of the Stade de France for the 1998 Football World Cup, and is still the home of the Paris St Germain Football Club.

Newcastle Falcons expect to receive tickets for the Heineken Cup quarter final in the first week of March, and will announce availability of these once they have arrived from France.

Some packages are still available for supporters wishing to travel to the game on the second of two charter flights organised by the club, after the first plane sold out in less than a week.

For details of those packages contact Anna Humphreys on 0191 214 2808 or email anna.humphreys@newcastle-falcons.co.uk
