Murphy set for Irish return

Leicester Tigers full back Geordan Murphy was wearing the broadest of smiles when the draw for the quarter-finals of the Heineken Cup was completed as it guaranteed him a trip back to his native Dublin.
But now the Irish international is trying to find ways to convince his family to support the two-times winners from the Zurich Premiership rather than back their home town team Leinster.
Speaking to the Leicester Tigers website, Murphy outlined some of the difficulties he is going to face before the two sides clash at Lansdowne Road on Saturday, 2 April (kick-off 5.15pm).

"There will probably be divided loyalties from my family as they're all from just outside of Dublin. I'm expecting a bit of abuse from the Leinster fans, but it'll be a lot of fun and hopefully we can get past them and into the semi-finals," said Murphy

"It should be good fun. We messed up against Biarritz, but it's good to get away with it. We're lucky to get in there, but we've got a second bite at the cherry. Sure, it would've been better having a home quarter-final, but it's knockout rugby and anything can happen now."

"If we can get a win in Dublin then we could suddenly find ourselves in the semi-finals and, who knows, maybe find ourselves up against Biarritz again."

Leinster, the top seeds after breezing through Pool 2 unbeaten, are the only non-French team hosting a Heineken Cup quarter-final this season. They racked up 26 points out of a possible 30 in the pool stages, scoring a massive 33 tries in their six matches. The Tigers were the next best with 24 tries.

"They're seeded one and seeded one for a reason - they're the form team in Europe. It'll be tough to go there and get a win, as it would be against any team away from home in the quarter-finals," added Murphy.

"They've got a fantastic team with strength of depth all the way through."
Included in the Leinster line-up is the Irish back row man Eric Miller, who played for Leicester in their first Heineken Cup final against Brive in Cardiff in 1997.
