The former English international wing Ben Cohen has signed a two year contract with an option for an additional year, with the 1996 Heineken Cup champions Brive.
The world champion (57 caps with the England team) was reportedly contacted by many teams such as Bayonne, Leicester and rugby league side Wigan but chose Brive as his new home.
The 29 year old player has appeared many times in the Heineken (46 caps) and the European Challenge Cup (9) with Northampton Saints and won the Heineken Trophy in 2000 with the English side. The wing scored 31 tries so far in Europe and Brive will be hoping he will continue his prolific ways with his new side.
Ben Cohen said:
"Brive have really welcomed me to the club. I'm a competitor and I will try to use my experience to help the club. It's a new challenge for me and I know that I will have to find my place in the team. "
The former Saints player also expressed a desire to earn a place back in the England squad and belives the European experience will help his dream.
After two Rounds, Brive third in Pool 4, can still qualify for the quarter - finals of the European Challenge Cup. This weekend, the Ben Cohen's new team will host the Spanish side El Salvador on Sunday, 9 December at 3.00 (local time).
