Veteran Wales lock Chris Wyatt says his Bourgoin side are taking the Heineken Cup more seriously that ever in their history and can still qualify for the quarter-finals.
They earned a losing bonus point in their opening game against the Ospreys at the Liberty Stadium and will take positives from a strong performance as they look forward to entertaining Ulster in France this weekend.
"We got a point away from home, we did not win the game, but for Bourgoin it is a good place to start to build confidence at home against Ulster," said former Llanelli, Scarlets and Munster lock.
"I have been part of a few teams now and this side has the ability to compete with all those I have played for previously - they just need the mentality to go with their promise.
"It is one game in, so any team can still get out of this group and we want to be going into the last game with a chance to win the group - we want to go into that game with our destiny in our hands in this tournament.
"The Ospreys definitely have a side that can go on to do good things in this tournament, but I don't think they believed we were one of those sides before the game.
"I felt we were if we were able to bring the type of mentality which maybe Bourgoin have lacked in the past.
"The focus for Bourgoin in France has always been the domestic league and it is very hard for them because they are always playing second fiddle to some of the bigger name clubs in France, which is fair enough.
"These coaches who have taken charge this year and the captain have big ambition for themselves and the team. They believe in the team and want the team to believe in themselves."
