If Perpignan are going to progress from Pool 1 then it looks likely they will have to do it without the help of wing Samueli Naulu.
Naulu has been out of action for six months following surgery to repair the cruciate ligament on his left knee.
It had been hoped the Fijian international may return in time some of the Catalan side's remaining Pool matches but a training ground incident has put his return on ice.
Naulu underwent a scan and it revealed further damage to the cruciate ligament. The surgeon who conducted the operation cannot confirm the length of time needed for a full recovery.
Perpignan are currently top of Pool one and now face London Irish in rounds 3 and 4 before tacking Benetton Treviso in round 5 and Newport-Gwent Dragons in round 6.
