Brive will go into their European Challenge Cup clash with Connacht with a new coach at the helm after Richard Crepsey paid the price for poor early season form.
Crepsey was hired in the summer after last season's tenth place finish in the French Championship but has been sacked after just two games.
Both were defeats and now Brive lie in eleventh place above Perpignan Auch and Dax on the Top 14 table.
Crespey has been replaced by former Brive and France backrow Olivier Magne. His first game in charge is a home match against Connacht on Friday, then he must take his side to Kingston Park to face the Newcastle Falcons in Round 2.
Brives most successful season in Europe came in 1997 when they raised the Heineken Cup in 1997 by beating Leicester Tigers 28-9 at Cardiff Arms Park.
Last season they were defeated by the Dragons 39-17 in the quarter-final. of the European Challenge.
