Kees Meeuws will lead Castres Olympique out against Sale Sharks at Edgeley Park on Friday night knowing that only an away win against the tournament's form team will keep the French club's fading quarter-final qualifying hopes flickering.
The All Blacks prop saw his team's eight-match winning home record come to a halt as the Sharks battled their way to an invaluable 20-16 win.
"After that home result we are under no illusions that it's going to be hard from now on if we want to come out of this Pool," he said. "We really have to believe in ourselves. We played pretty well in the home game against Sale and it was only in the details that we lost so, at the end of the day, there's everything still to play for.
"We need to make sure we can take the positive aspects from the Round 3 defeat out on the road and try to get the crucial away victory at Sale.
"It's obviously going to be a tough ask for us to win at Sale but if we keep it together and have confidence we should be able to win. We played the right game plan in the home leg and there are just a few areas we have to tighten up on and that should see us through.
"We'll obviously be looking pretty hard at these areas and the few wrong decisions we made on Friday and look at ways to address these in training to fine tune the team.
"We have got a good pack which we need to utilise. Our rolling maul against Sale was excellent and saw us score through one of our second rows and we know that Sale picked a forward-weighted team to try to counter that so it's something we are hoping to exploit in the return game. But we need to get the ball out to the backs a little bit quicker to enable them to run it a bit more.
"One of the things that stood out was how well Sale play as a team. They all work hard together and it was a well-contested battle. We enjoyed the game and we're looking forward to the return."
