Wayne Barnes (England) will referee his first Heineken Cup final when he takes charge of the all-French match between Biarritz Olympique and Toulouse in the landmark 15th tournament final at Stade de France on Saturday, 22 May.
ERC, the Heineken Cup and Amlin Challenge Cup organisers, today also announced that Alain Rolland (Ireland) will control the Amlin Challenge Cup final between Cardiff Blues and Toulon at the Stade Velodrome in Marseille on Sunday, 23 May.
Gloucester-born 31-year-old Barnes will be the youngest referee to control a Heineken Cup final, having taken charge of the 2008 Toulouse v Cardiff Blues and the 2009 Munster v Ospreys quarter-finals among his 23 Heineken Cup appointments.
His assistant referees in the Paris final will be fellow English officials Dave Pearson and Chris White.
Rolland, who refereed the 2004 Heineken Cup final, will be taking charge of his first Amlin Challenge Cup final and his 62nd ERC match.
His assistant referees will be fellow Irish officials Alan Lewis and George Clancy.
