Triple Heineken Cup winners Toulouse will go into their quarter-final with Stade Francais on the back of a victory against the side tugging at their coat tails in the Top 14.
Guy Noves' side did a job on Racing-Metro last weekend, running in 28-23 winners to maintain their challenge for a semi-final play off place.
The win puts nine points between the teams. Toulouse are in fifth with 69, while Racing Metro occupy the final play off place, (sixth) with 60 points.
Arguably the most decorated domestic rugby team in the world will prepare to launch another assault on a Heineken Cup title, as they prepare to take on old rivals Stade Francais in a quarter final French derby on Sunday.
Stade Toulousain will approach the game ready after securing their place in next season's European championship, as well as the finals for this year's Top 14 tournament.
"I think that that match (against Racing-Metro) was the ideal preparation for the meeting with Stade Francais," said Noves to rugbyweek.com
"I prefer to play a big team before such an important match as it fine-tunes our qualities. Last year for instance we suffered as a result of putting over 80 points past Mont-de-Marsan and the next week we lost to Clermont in the championship play-off semi-finals."
"Against Racing-Metro we won by being really focussed when we faced a tough challenge, and by rolling up our sleeves when it got tough."
"We were tested in terms of how we reacted when we were under pressure. Our spirit was good, and the players showed they were hungry for the fight. What is certain, is that we will be ready for Stade on Sunday."
Under their coach Guy Noves, they have won all three of their European titles and seven Bouclier de Brennus, and the 56 year old is happy with his sides form.
Toulouse have won 14 matches, drawn 1 and lost nine in the Top 14 this season, and enter the quarter finals courtesy of topping pool five, overcoming Cardiff Blues, Sale Sharks and Harlequins.
Their rivals Stade Francais came through a tougher pool four, beating Ulster, Edinburgh and Bath to qualify as the top team of the pool. However in the Top 14 the Paris based side have struggled, sitting ninth on the table with only nine wins in 24 matches.
