Clement Poitrenaud will miss Toulouse's Heineken Cup quarter-final clash with Cardiff Blues at Le Stadium on Sunday, 6 April, after breaking his left tibia in his club's 41-15 defeat of Perpignan last Saturday.
The try bonus point victory takes Toulouse four points clear of Stade Français Paris at the top of the Top 14 but the loss of international full back Poitrenaud for at least three months is a major blow as the French giants go in search of a fourth Heineken Cup title.
It also ends Pointrenaud's hopes of a Test comeback in the 2008 Six Nations, the injury coming just days after he was recalled to the French squad by new coach Marc Leivremont.
However, French man-of-the-moment Vincent Clerc simply cannot stop scoring - for both club and country.
He followed up his five tries in two RBS Six Nations matches for France, against Scotland and Ireland, with the bonus point clinching score against Perpignan.
There was still time for another Clerc try that took him to 50 tries for his club since his debut in 2002 and his seventh of the season.
It was Toulouse's fifth try bonus point win of the Top 14 campaign but a setback for fellow Heineken Cup quarter-finalists Perpignan, who travel to London Irish on 5 April.
It was the eighth straight away defeat in Toulouse for Perpignan who find themselves struggling down in 10th place in the Top 14.
