It's down to the wire now for the five contenders who have been shortlisted for the ultimate individual accolade in northern hemisphere rugby, ERC European Player of the Year 2013.

Sebastien Chabal signed a two year deal with an additional one. The international back row (37 caps with France) joined Sale in 2004 and won the European Challenge Cup in 2005 with the Sharks. The experienced player has scored 12 tries in both European competitions and has developed into a key for Sale.
Sale coach Philippe St André said: "Sebastien is a great player. He always gives his best. He will play a big part in the future of Sale Sharks and we are all delighted that he has signed a new deal. "
The Sharks are top of Pool 4 with 20 points and will host Petrarca Rugby in Round 5, on Friday, 11 January 2008.
