Montauban and Montpellier might be up against it in their attempts to qualify for the European Challenge Cup quarter-finals but both French clubs kept their last eight hopes alive with crucial Round 4 victories.
Montauban saw off the Romanian challenge of Bucuresti in Pool 2 with a six-try win but even the try bonus point leaves them three points adrift of Pool leaders Worcester Warriors with the English club having a game in hand.
However, Montauban did run in six tries against the Romania side with Damien Delpy (2), Benjamin Sa, Yoan Audrin and Rida Jaouher all crossing the line with a penalty try for good measure.
Montpellier - who saw Sale Sharks make it four from four a day earlier to take firm control of Pool 4 - at least kept themselves in the quarter-final qualification frame with a 31-3 home win over Petrarca Rugby.
Tries from Sebastien Galtier, Louis Picamoles, Frikkie Welsh, Olivier Sarraméa, Sebastien Kuzbik saw them home with a try bonus point as the battle for the three best runner-sup places hots up.
In addition to the five Pool winners, the best three runners-up qualify for the last eight and the chance for a tilt at European glory.
