The Llanelli Scarlets have announced that they will now been known as the 'Scarlets' as they move into their new stadium Parc y Scarlets in around 10 weeks time for the Heineken Cup Round 4.
Widely used already by both supporters and the media, the title 'Scarlets' will now be formally adopted as the region's brand.
Stuart Gallacher, Chief Executive of the Scarlets said:
"We will always be a major flag bearer for the town of Llanelli - it's our home and that will not change. With a fantastic new stadium here, we will continue to bring visitors from far and wide as well as helping attract investment and commercial opportunities for Llanelli.
We have been listening to the views of our supporters and discussions with our sponsors and rugby partners across the region about the name change indicate that it has wide support."
Scarlets will play their first Heineken Cup game at home against Harlequins on Saturday, 11 October at 3.30 pm.
