Frederic Michalak will wear Toulouse jersey next season
Frederic Michalak will return to Toulouse after signing a three year contract with Guy Noves' side.
The France capped international half back has spent one season at Natal Sharks but has opted to return to the club where he made his name after the Currie final in October.
Toulouse reportedly fought off interest from Toulon, and a host of top English clubs, and Biarritz to sign the player until the 2011 season.
The scrum half spoke to the French sports newspaper l'Equipe and has explained his decision: "I started to think about returning to northern hemisphere rugby two months ago, Super 14 was one of my childhood dreams and I took my time to choose a club.
"I hesitated to join Biarritz because I like the way of life in the Basque Country and some of the players are my friends."
Michalak is referring to the likes of Damien Traille, Jérôme Thion and Imanol Harinordoquy, all players he has faced in the cut and thrust of the French Top 14.
"But when I compare the rugby elsewhere, I really prefer the way of playing in Toulouse. Everybody would like to play in Toulouse." said Toulouse-born MIchalak.
Michalak has already lifted the Heineken Cup in 2003 and in 2005 and famously scored the extra-time drop goal against Stade Français at Murrayfield.in 2005 that won Toulouse their third European title.
Next season the 25-year-old will be in competition for a place in the starting lineup with the France fly-half David Skrela.
"I met David this year during the World Cup," said Michalak. "He is a person that I like and we have a good friendship.
"We know now that we need to have two players at the same position if we want to play the Heineken Cup and the Championship."
The number 10 will join Toulouse at the end of October after the Currie Cup final in South Africa but will miss the first two rounds of the Heineken Cup as they fall on the weekend's of 11 and 18 October.
