Mark Chappell (38), a huge fan of Gloucester Rugby, travelled to Limerick in January 2003 to watch his side play Munster in the crunch Round 6 clash to decide which team would qualify for the Heineken Cup quarter-finals.
There he met Colette McInerney, a Munster fan after the "Miracle Match" which has gone down in rugby folklore. An injury time try from Munster wing John Kelly, converted by Ronan O'Gara, ensured that Munster qualified for the Heineken Cup quarter-finals in the most dramatic fashion.
After Gloucester hopes were dashed in Thomond Park, Mark went to Clohessy's Bar in Limerick to drown his sorrows -- and it was the start of a romance which has led to this weekend's wedding in Rudford, near Gloucester.
"My dad John and I, together with two friends, went to Clohessy's Bar the night before the match and it was pretty busy," said Mr Chappel speakign to the Irish Independent.
"I met Colette there and then after the match we went out with friends and that's how it started."
The Heineken Cup "Miracle Match" is now part of rugby legend and few Munster fans will forget it.
The couple will tie the knot at Rudford's Dark Barn on Saturday.
"There will be a lot of rugby people there and no doubt quite a bit of banter about Gloucester and Munster. There will be a rugby theme to all the tables at the reception. We might have a bit of fun with the place settings."
