Lawrence Dallaglio has confirmed he will end his playing days when his Wasps' contract runs out at the end of the season.
The double Heineken Cup winning captain be looking to bow out on a high by steering his side to another European showpiece final in Cardiff in May.
The World Cup-winning No. 8 will retire from international rugby from immediate effect, giving him more time to focus on the challenge of progressing from Pool 5, the notoriously nicknamed 'Pool of Death'.
Munster, buoyed by the imminent debut of Doug Howlett, top the Pool and are the challenge that awaits Dallaglio's London Wasps team in Round 6.
In his illustrious European career, Dallaglio has made 59 appearances since his debut in 1996 against Cardiff. He scored the first of his eight tries three weeks later against Milan.
Under Warren Gatland, he skippered his side to European Challenge Cup glory in 2002/3, and the Heineken Cup the following season.
Last season he returned to Twickenham, the site of the 2004 triumph, and dictated the rhythm of the match to dominate Leicester Tigers and secure a second Heineken Cup crown for his team.
