Irish international and Munster lock Paul O'Connell could be back for the Heineken Cup clash against ASM Clermont Auvergne next week after being named in Munster's squad for this weekend.
O'Connell is set to return to Munster action for the first time in eight months as a replacement in their Magners League game against Ulster in Ravenhill and is now in the running to start for the 2006 champions in Round 5 of the Heineken Cup.
The Limerick based player, who has recorded 37 appearances and seven tries in the Heineken Cup, was nominated as Munster captain this season.
Welcoming the return of the influential forward Declan Kidney, Munster's coach said: we have being monitoring Paul's recovery on a day to day basis. He trained earlier in the week but had we named him in our original squad it might have put unnecessary focus on him so we felt it better to wait and see how he came through yestreday's session before including him or not. He is fine today and now there is a possibility of him getting some game time on Friday."
The international lock is not the only player to return to action for Munster. Tomas O'Leary and Anthony Horgan are returning to the side, while the New Zealander Doug Howlett looks to set to get his first run out for the Irish province this weekend.
