ERC can confirm that the Federation Française de Rugby (FFR) has withdrawn its application to host the 2014 Heineken Cup and Amlin Challenge Cup finals, due to the ongoing uncertainty regarding the availability of the Stade de France.
The newly redeveloped Twickenham has an 82,000 capacity, and with just a handful of tickets still available for Wasps' season ticket holders, the stage is set for the record books to be rewritten.
And the potential Twickenham crowd will also comfortably top the Heineken Cup tournament high of the 74,600 who were at the Millennium Stadium to see Leicester beat Munster 15-9 in the 2002 final.
That turnout of fans at Twickenham means it will all add up to around 914,000 fans having watched tournament action at the 79 matches this season as Leicester Tigers bid to match former treble champions Toulouse with a third triumph while London Wasps attempt to lift the coveted trophy for a second time.
