Sale Sharks will clash with Biarritz Olympique Pays Basque on Saturday, when the Heineken Cup finalists re-open their ground, le Parc des Sports Aguilera.
Heineken Cup finalists Biarritz Olympique knocked out Sale Sharks in the quarter-finals of the Europe's premier club rugby competition last season, defeating them 11-6 in Estadio Anoeta in San Sebastian.
Guinness Premiership Champions Sale Sharks face French Champions Biarritz at le Parc des Sports Aquilera tomorrow evening (Saturday) in the last game of their three game French Tour.
For the game against Biarritz there will be five notable absentees, Jason Robinson has a groin strain, Andy Titterrell is recovering from his neck operation, Mark Cueto picked up a knock in Beziers, and both Andrew Sheridan and Dean Schofield are not 100% fit but both these players are expected to play against Edinburgh, at Edgeley Park on Friday 25th August, the week before the new season starts.
Director of Rugby Philippe Saint Andre said, " The youngsters played very well last night in the narrow defeat at Beziers and several of them will be knocking on the door for a place in the first team before long. Competition for places will be intense, and that's just how it should be as we prepare to defend our title."
Philippe added, " Biarritz will be at full strength as this is their last warm up game before their season starts, but my players are looking forward to the game."
