An independent Disciplinary Committee convened today to hear a citing complaint against Julian White, the Leicester Tigers prop.
An independent Disciplinary Committee convened today (Wednesday, 30 January), to hear a citing complaint against Julian White, the Leicester Tigers prop (No 3), arising from the Round 6 Heineken Cup Pool 6 match against Leinster at Welford Road on Saturday, 19 January, 2008.
The citing lodged by the Citing Commissioner for the match, Geraint Edwards (Wales), was for the alleged punching of Leinster lock Malcolm O'Kelly (No 5) in contravention of Law 10.4 (a).
The independent Disciplinary Committee was chaired by Rod McKenzie (Scotland) and also comprised Dr Barry O'Driscoll (Ireland) and Richard McGhee (Scotland).
Mr. White admitted he was guilty of foul play in that he had punched Malcolm O'Kelly.
After considering the evidence available, the independent Disciplinary Committee determined that the offence was of mid-range in the level of seriousness. Having taken into account any mitigating and aggravating factors the Committee suspended the player for a period of five (5) weeks backdated from the week commencing Monday, 21 January, 2008, and running up to and including Sunday, 24 February, 2008.
Both parties have the right to appeal.
