Colin Charvis will stay at Rodney Parade next season taking up a position as Contact and Defense Skills Coach with the Dragons.
The 32-year-old will also be available to play for the Dragons if they want to call on his experience in their Pool 5 Heineken Cup campaign against Toulouse, Glasgow, and European Challenge Cup winners Bath Rugby.
Charvis is Wales' most-capped international forward and became an integral member of the Newport Gwent Dragons squad after joining from Newcastle in 2006. The flanker has amassed 44 European appearances in both tournaments and has scored four tries in the Heineken Cup.
Dragon's Head Coach Paul Turner believes the former Wales international's rugby skills and experience will be of great value this season:
"Colin has spent the past two weeks with the region on a temporary basis and it's clear that he has great ideas about the game and the future at the Dragons.
He has a huge knowledge and a proven commitment to the Dragons region, since joining us from Newcastle in 2006."
The latest member of the Dragons coaching staff says he is delighted to be able to stay at Rodney Parade for another season.
"I am really glad of the opportunity to work with the Dragons for another year. If I can help with some skills and contact area coaching, it is a great experience for me and a good opportunity to continue enjoying my time with the region, following two very happy years, said Charvis.
"There are some very good young players here and it would be great to pass on my experience from the past thirteen years to them."
