It's down to the wire now for the five contenders who have been shortlisted for the ultimate individual accolade in northern hemisphere rugby, ERC European Player of the Year 2013.

Luke said, "You get one shot at it and I want to make the most of my career. I want to go overseas and experience different lifestyles .I have been to Manchester before and I like it there.
Jim Caldwell, Chairman of Alderley Edge based property group, Bluemantle, has confirmed his organisation are delighted to sponsor the move to Premiership side Sale Sharks of Luke McAlister, the current All Blacks centre. He said "The acquisition of Luke will, we are sure, mark another milestone in ensuring the Club's ambitious plans to capitalise on the firm base already created by Brian Kennedy and his outstanding Director of Rugby, Philippe Saint Andre, and Head Coach, Kingsley Jones. Undoubtedly Philippe's ability to attract a world class star of Luke's ability to Edgeley Park will be justified by the increased support at the Club and will also be reflected in the team's performance for the 2007/8 Season. We wish Luke every success in the forthcoming World Cup although clearly not at the expense of a potential England victory! We look forward to welcoming Luke to Manchester after the World Cup."
Head Coach, Kingsley Jones said, " This a great signing and hopefully we can make it a double if Luke's father, Charlie decides to join us as part of the coaching team. We have been chasing Charlie since last December and hopefully he will decide to join us in the near future."
