Saracens coach Alan Gaffney has singled out former finalists Biarritz as the team to watch out for in their group, though he warns about the dangers of first opponents Glasgow.
"You would have to say that Biarritz are the premier side in our group, their record over the last few years shows that," admitted Gaffney.
"We know they have got a very good side, I played them in the quarter-final in San Sebastian in 2005 and the result certainly did not go the way I wanted that day but we will give it a go this time round.
"Glasgow have strengthened without doubt with guys like Daryl Gibson, Lome Fa'atau and Kelly Brown so they will be particularly strong."
Saracens have recruited well, with 62 times capped All Blacks lock Chris Jack the biggest name signing even though he will not be available for the first two pool games in this season's Heineken Cup.
"We have recruited a couple of new players ourselves, but some of those are not here as yet and we suffered a couple of injuries in pre-season which is unfortunate, but some of the World Cup players are filtering back now," said Gaffney.
"We are down to the bones with injuries in the backs at the moment, even though the guys who are playing are doing well.
"By late November we will start to get a lot of people back, obviously they will miss the first two rounds of the Heineken Cup so the guys that are there have got to do a job as they have been doing in the Premiership.
"Integrating the World Cup players back will be fine because they are experienced players and the transition has been very, very good.
"We know that potentially there are two wins against Viadana in this group, but our performance has to be good. Unless you go to Italy with your head fixed on you will suffer, it does not matter how much you talk about it you have got to do it."
