Newcastle Falcons outside half Rob Miller has extended his stay at Kingston Park by another year.
The 18-year-old scooped man-of-the-match honours in scoring a try on his Guinness Premiership debut last month, on the same weekend that his England Under-20s side claimed its first ever Grand Slam.
In a remarkable season the Cumbrian youngster was also Tynedale's top try-scorer as they romped to promotion in to National Division Two, with Newcastle's acting director of rugby Steve Bates saying: "Rob is an exceptional talent.
"He has continued the tradition of fly halves coming through the Falcons academy, and has already made his mark with the first team in scoring a try on his debut.
"With the England EPS situation next season there is a strong chance that we will see a lot more of Rob on the Guinness Premiership stage, in what we hope will be the start of a long and successful career for him."
Miller, a student at Northumbria University, became the fourth youngest ever debutant for the Falcons when he started the Guinness Premiership clash against Bristol on March 15 of this year.
He joins a long line of homegrown fly halves including Jonny Wilkinson and Toby Flood, with the Falcons academy also currently having England Under-18s Grand Slam fly halves Rory Clegg and Tom Catterick among its ranks.
