Last weekend's final league round of the Guinness Premiership saw Worcester win well and Bath lose, but the 1998 Heineken winners still made it through to the play-offs.
In what was a top of the table clash Bath travelled to Kingsholm, the venue for their European Challenge Cup final, and narrowly lost to Gloucester 8-6 in a gripping encounter.
The loss, coupled with Wasps' win over Leeds, saw Bath finish in third position in the league table and the European Challenge Cup finalists now must travel to High Wycombe for the Premiership semi-finals the week before their European showdown. Steve Meehan will also have to sweat over the fitness of two of his frontline props Matt Stevens and Lee Mears who both picked up injuries in the tight game.
Worcester Warriors will have a quieter build up to their European final despite a comprehensive 51-10 victory over Newcastle Falcons, which included eight Warrior tries. Worcester finished in 10th position in the Guinness Premiership and therefore have the added motivation of Heineken Cup rugby to play for in Sunday week's European Challenge cup final at Kingsholm.
