Victorious Saracens captain Neil de Kock revealed how fierce competition within the squad has driven his side to their last eight spot in the Heineken Cup.
After a masterful man-of-the-match showing in his side's 21-17 triumph at Glasgow, the scrum half paid tribute to the attitude his squad have shown since day one of the campaign.
He said: ''At the beginning of the season, there were certain goals and standards set. We set our sights on the quarter final and we are in it and happy.
''There is great competition in the squad which can only be healthy and this is something we have strived for. We are there now and going pretty well.''
Sarries had expected Glasgow to come out looking for tries and de Kock admitted their failure to do played into his side's hands.
''We were worried about them coming out and running the ball but they seemed more focused on the win than the bonus point and the shots at goal rather than the tries suited us.
''We made some mistakes and you can't let opportunities slip at this level, but we did and that let them back into the game.
''We'll have a keen eye on a few other teams now and then the quarter final in a couple of months and we're looking forward to that.''
