The switch of fixtures from Bourgoin's normal home of Stade Pierre Rajon means the 30,000 capacity Geneva stadium will become the 77th ground to host a Heineken Cup tie.
Bourgoin took the decision to move over the border to ensure they can take full advantage of what is likely to be a Heineken Cup record breaking attendance for the club. The French club's current Heineken Cup record attendance is the 9,200 they had for the game against Munster in their 2003/04 campaign.
The move follows that taken by fellow French side Biarritz Olympique in recent seasons, when they switched their quarter-finals to Northern Spain and played in San Sebastian. Already this season a number of clubs have moved matches to cater for the increasing demand for Heineken Cup tickets. Cardiff Blues switched their Pool 4 clash with Leicester Tigers in Round 2 to the Millennium Stadium, and enjoyed a record crowd of 26,645, while Stade Francais Paris are set to face Sale Sharks at 44,000 capacity Parc des Princes in Round 3.
Stade de Geneve is the home of one of the top Swiss football clubs, Servette FC, and has an all seat capacity of 30,000.
Opened in March, 2003, it is the third largest stadium in Switzerland and will stage three matches in the 2008 European soccer Championships, which will be jointly hosted by Switzerland and Austria.
The game is scheduled for the weekend of 12/13/14 January, 2007, and the date and time of kick-off will be confirmed following the completion of Round 3 of the Heineken Cup. (week of Monday 11 December)
